Ya’ll here’s the deal. I haven’t been on facebook or instagram for a couple years now, and honestly, I feel like my life is simpler and more peaceful without it. Call me crazy, I know.
I thought it would be best to catch you up and tell you what we’ve been up to before I write about anything else…
How long do you have?
I’m just kidding.
But really, I’ve been almost completely off social media for over 2 years now, and things have changed drastically for our family over those 2 years.
The big stuff
- We’ve hosted 10 marriage retreats and 5 Dreamers + Doers retreats
- We spent 8 weeks in Mexico in 2020
- We renovated our entire house!
- We had the sweet privilege of baptizing several of our friends.
- I finished the 1st draft of my book and started a 2nd draft.
- We took a road trip to South Dakota to see our friends.
- We held baby sea turtles in Mexico.
- We went swimming with the dolphins.
- We moved our kids from a huge school district to a small town school.
- We raised (and butchered) 2 pigs.
- We’ve been in Mexico 5 weeks in 2021.
- We started attending a new church.
- I took my 1st solo international trip.
- We went to Disney World, Legoland, and Universal Studios.
- Addy started track and field throwing discus and shotput.
- Lucy started ballet and jazz.
- Wyatt started Jiujitsu.
- Luke continues to have more money than all of us, and has started lifting weights and getting ready for track.
- We went to Las Vegas and ate on the patio at Picasso’s in front of the Bellagio fountains.
- Addy and Luke went to church camp for the 1st time.
- We got a new puppy! He’s a golden doodle, and his name is Chewbacca.
- We celebrated Brian’s 40th birthday with a murder mystery party.
- We’re prepping our home to put in on the market by Thanksgiving.
- And probably most significantly: we bought 50 acres!
So now…
We’re on the fast track of things changing even quicker and faster for our family.
After we closed on our land in August, the original plan was to just hang on to it for a while. But the more we spent time out there, the more we fell in love. In addition to that, our kids love their school and the town it’s in. We all decided we want to be out there, living on our acreage, sooner rather than later.
So now, we’re getting our home ready to list by Thanksgiving. We’re making plans for the land, moving dirt, and cutting in dirt roads. We already have concrete poured for the 1st building that will act as storage for now and will eventually be my office + our workout space.
We have plans for a large pond, a lodge for retreats, our home of course, and a wedding venue/event space.
Right now, it feels like a massive project. And it is. We don’t even have water or electricity on the land yet, but here we are. Moving forward. Dream chasing. One step at a time.
And while we’re doing that, I’ll be here, blogging like in the old days and documenting it all. I won’t just write about the land, but also about food and travel, business and motherhood, and everything in between.

Glad to get the update on life. Would love to come to one of your marriage retreats. We did just move to Fairbanks, Alaska which may throw a wrench in any lower 48 plans. We hope to make it to SFR 22.
